Prayer for a friend's dad...

Please be in prayer for Tracy's dad, a dear blogging friend of mine. Below is her prayer request...

Could you take a moment to lift a prayer for my Dad? He's a carpenter and while working yesterday, fell from a scaffold onto the homeowner's driveway. He broke his heels…one in two places, the other is shattered. Both will require surgery. He was admitted to a local hospital where they now have his pain under control, but he has major swelling. Apparently, they cannot operate until it's gone down somewhat. (They're saying it could be 5 days before that happens.) We've been told recovery from the surgery will be rather lengthy.

There are lots of questions and concerns looming ahead (Dad is self-employed, won't be able to drive or work for quite some time, Mom doesn't drive and isn't in the best of health, Dad already tends toward depression, etc.) but we know and believe God is in control. This is all part of His plan. There is truly a measure of comfort in that! We are also grateful his injuries are not more severe...he could have broken his legs, his back, his neck or even worse.

We are of course bringing his case to the Great Physician and trusting Him for the best possible outcome. I would be most grateful if you would, too. Thank you.

Prayer Requests from a friend

These prayer requests are from a friend of mine at church... please join us in lifting these people up to our Lord and Savior... thanks so much!

Louise-my college roommate's mother who is having a brain tumor removed on Tuesday. As you can imagine the family is very anxious and scared and I just pray for peace and protection and that the doctors do everything they can to get it removed.

My best friend Tracey who lives in Virginia has had several kidney stones removed and is now finally having to have a defective kidney removed on Monday and so she'll have to live the rest of her life with one kidney. She has twin boys under the age of 2 that she will not be able to hold for a while. Please pray for her whole family.

My friend Amy has been diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma- it is a Stage 4 but apparently that's not a terrible thing with this kind of cancer. She is "only" needing 4 chemo treatments.

My grandmother is in the hospital and has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) she was misdiagnosed with para-lateral sclerosis when in fact it is ALS. She cannot feel some parts of her body and she is 79 years old. Please pray for my "Betty grandma"

Lee's grandfather (who is 95) just had surgery on his hand to help with carpal tunnel. He is recovering nicely.

Another Update on Uncle JW

Thanks so much to all who have prayed for my uncle! He had his surgery this morning...

They had to do a triple bypass instead of a double bypass, and he had a fourth artery that was 45% blocked, but they were not able to address it due to its location...

He came through the surgery fine, and the doctors say he should be back to his normal routine in 3 weeks! That just amazes me!

Please continue to pray for his recovery and his continued care, thanks so much!

Update on my uncle...

Thanks for those of you who are praying for my uncle JW...

He is scheduled to have a double bypass tomorrow morning, April 13th. He is the 1st surgery scheduled.

He has had no pain since 8 this morning, but the doctors still feel he needs this surgery.

Please pray for the surgeons and nurses and all those taking part in his care...

Pray for his wife and their 3 daughters and grand-daughters...

I will update tomorrow when I hear from them, thanks so much for all the prayers!

Pray for my uncle

Please be in prayer for my uncle JW Vernon... we found out this morning (Easter morning) that he 
had a heart attack last night and they had to airlift him to Tupelo. 
 
That is all we know right now, we are unable to get anyone at the hospital and 
we can not get my aunt or their daughters on their cell phones...

Update on Josiah...

Thanks so much to all who joined us in prayer and/or fasting for Josiah... I
just continue to be absolutely amazed and in awe of what God does in this family
and in this child's life!  Praise Him, Praise Him, Praise Him!! 

Below is the update from his dad:

An update from our day:

1.  Josiah did not seem at all fearful of the doctors and nurses this time.  He
has screamed violently in the past when we go in for these check ups.  He was so
sweet and cooperative today, allowing the doctors to poke and prod at his head
for however long and often they needed.  He stayed very still for them and
smiled sweetly.  This was clearly the GRACE of GOD.  Dr.  Blount commented on
the drastic difference and his lack of fear several times.

2.  The last time we went for a scan, Dr. Blount had commented that the entire
skull piece that had been replaced intitially was deteriorating and  we were
most likely to lose all of it.  There has been NO further loss of bone since
that initial scan in January, and the portion of bone that was "as thin as a
potato chip" is MUCH thicker and stronger than he thought.  This is a huge
blessing!  They thought they would have to remove this thin bone in order to
fasten the graft to a stronger area, but it is strong enough to hold the screws
in place itself, and seems to be strengthening further... this is CLEARLY answer
to our prayers!

3.  The course of action the doctors want to take is to fit a synthetic piece
(the material used is similar to that of a bowling ball) to the current opening
in his  skull (about half the size of the palm of my hand.)  The scans were
taken today to get an exact "puzzle piece" fit, and they are optimistic that
this is the answer to fixing his head in "one shot".  As his head grows, it is
likely that it will fill in the gap with bone and fibrosis, and we will not have
to open him up again.      They have been reluctant to take bone from another
place of his skull in case it is also resorbed into the body, and then his
resources to work with are depleted for future options.   If the plate does
separate from the skull as he grows, they will have at least bought some time in
order for him to age and get to the point where his skull thickens enough to
split and do a graft with his own tissue(age 5 or 6 is optimal). Thank you all
for your fervent prayers!  The Lord is at work mightily, and using this to draw
us nearer and nearer to Him, teaching us to listen and pray, and discern His
will and His voice.  Keep praying that we will be bold in every opportunity
given to proclaim His goodness and glory to others.  Concerning the surgery the
doctors are planning, if this surgery is what God wills to happen, we must pray
against infection(the risk is much higher with a synthetic material than his own
bone tissue) and please pray that this will be the only surgery needed.As we
have seen before, the Lord may change the course of the doctors plans again!  We
will be watchful and prayerful in the meantime.  He has abundantly exceeded my
asking and imagination. He is so WORTHY of praise!Thanks for your continued
prayers, we will be in touch!

Prayer Request for Josiah...

Below is a prayer request from Josiah's father, for those of you who have prayed for him in the past I wanted to make sure you saw this, and for those who are new to this site, please join us in praying for the miraculous! You can go here to see my original prayer request for this precious one. Thanks for your prayers...

Late last week we received a call from Dr. Blount, the head neurosurgeon. From the conversation a few new issues have emerged:

First after dialoguing with more “thoughtful colleagues”, Dr. Blount has determined not to go through with the procedure he initially planned in late February. Through these discussions it was determined that the initial course of action would have likely not had the desired effect, thus leaving Josiah’s skull with another unprotected area. Obviously, God knew what he was doing when the previous surgery was canceled and he sent us for pancakes.

Second, he asked us to bring Josiah in this Friday, April 3^rd at 11:30 am (a time that was just confirmed today)for another visit. After more scanning Dr. Blount, along with a colleague, will sit with us and share their collective thoughts. Among other things, Dr. Blount stated that they just want to see if there has been any noticeable growth in the area.

Upon hearing these words, tears swelled. Our prayer is that come Friday the scans will reveal substantial restoration. I recently went back to the journal entries (specifically September 14^th – 18^th) and recalled what was initially perceived through the eyes of man: death or irreparable brain damage. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to read these pages without feeling both the weight of who God is and the blessed hope found in His name. He miraculously moved on behalf of His kingdom.

This said, I invite you to join us in fasting and prayer for the miraculous. Beginning April 1^st until 12 noon on the 3^rd, we invite you to participate in a bread and liquid fast. The focus is renewed hunger for His righteousness and a petition that His power allow Josiah’s skull to regenerate. Certainly this request is not intended for everyone, nor are we looking to “hear” from you. We just ask that you listen for the Spirit’s leading in this matter - is this to be your work?

Continued Prayers Needed for Jennifer...

I previously posted a prayer request for Jennifer and her pregnancy, God has done and continues to do miracles in this lady's life, and she continues to need us to intercede for her... below is a short prayer from her current update on her blog, please pray for her and her baby.

I need some very strong intercession for this pregnancy and innocent baby. I am weak, but He is strong. Please God, take these chains of anguish from me.

I thank God for all of your prayers and comments that bring me encouragement that is much needed during this testing time in my life. Please continue praying hard for this baby and my health.

Another Update on Stacey...

Praise the Lord! Stacey is home from the hospital and is doing great!

The doctors determined that what she was experiencing was from migranes. They told her that in some people migranes manifest themselves with stroke-like symptoms... I have never heard of this before!

She has a follow-up appointment next week, but praise the Lord she has not had a stroke! Let's pray that the Lord heal her from the migranes!

Update on Stacey

Good Morning Prayer Warriors....

Stacey called me this morning before I could get a chance to call her, she sounds very good. All her tests continue to come back with good results, and she is currently having an echo done...

I just have to share what she shared with me this morning. The Lord spoke to her through His Word this morning, this is what she read that ministered so to her heart and spirit...

Psalm 34:3-7

Glorify the Lord with me;
Let us exalt His name together.

I sought the Lord and He answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
He saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he deliverers them.

Please continue to pray for Jennifer... Praise God her baby is still alive, God is working miracles in this lady's life. She is currently on bed rest and is in God's hand, there is absolutely no better place to be. You need to go and read this post that she has written about God's promise to her, and please continue to pray for her. I can not wait to see what God does in her life... He has already astounded so many!

Update as of 3/10/09

UPDATED PRAYER NEED: We have been praying for Jennifer, and she needs our prayers again. She is expecting and has been bleeding and clotting in her uterus. Doctors thought she was miscarrying the baby on March 7. She never passed a clot, and when she went to the doctor today, there was a strong heartbeat. THE BABY IS ALIVE! Mother and baby's lives still remain in danger as long as she continues to bleed...so MUCH prayer is needed. This is a miracle! Praise the Lord...and please join me in asking for more miracles for sweet Jennifer...who has already lost her precious Isaiah and another little one from this condition. Please tell every prayer warrior you know and get on your knees on behalf of this precious mother and her family. The following prayer request was forwarded to me from a friend I have made through blogging, please join me in lifting Jennifer and her precious unborn baby up to the throne of grace, she needs our prayers now... these are her words...

This morning I got really bad cramps, to the point were I could hardly walk or sit down. About an hour later the cramps were letting up, and then there was some pink spotting.

I called the doctor, and had an appointment at 1:00 this afternoon. My doctor was not in today, so I had to see someone else that is not familiar to the problems that I had in my last pregnancy with Isaiah.

While he was doing the ultrasound we could see the baby, and above it was a formation of a blood clot. It is about the size of a walnut, and it was not there last Tuesday, that's less than a week ago! He told me that all we can do right now is watch and wait. My doctor whom I usually see, told me last week that if there were to be a clot again in this pregnancy, she is going to be very concerned.

I go on Friday for another ultrasound to see what everything looks like, unless my doctor chooses to do so sooner.

I cannot even begin to tell you about the fear that this has put in me. It's like going through the pregnancy all over again with Isaiah. Unless God intervene and does a miracle, I fear that the same exact thing is going to happen with this baby and the chance of me dying.

I am just going to be blunt; I CANNOT GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to be knocking on death's door with myself and loose another child because my body seemed to forget how to take care of a baby in my womb.

Please pray hard. Pray on your knees. Call your friends. Call prayer warriors that you know. I know that God can heal, he saved me on August 3, 2008 the night I lost my son. He saved my oldest son who had a brain tumor in May 2007. May God show me and my family His grace and mercy straight from the throne room. Straight from His powerful hands. Straight from His word spoken against this hold on me and my family.

Prayer for Mrs. Mary

Update as of 3/17/09... Mrs. Mary came through her surgery remarkably well and came home from the hospital on Sunday! She has had to take NO pain medication other than tylenol or aleve and only that on a couple of occasions! That just amazes me! What a powerful testimony to the power of prayer!

Please continue to pray for her as she recovers from surgery, and as she goes to meet with the oncologist to talk about further treatment... you can go here to read more about Mrs. Mary. Thanks so much for joining me in praying for this precious saint of God!

She has breast cancer and today found out that it has spread to her lymph nodes... she is scheduled for surgery on Friday, 3/13/09.

She has great peace and has total and complete trust in the Lord, and wants only for Him to be glorified through her life. Our church family gathered around her tonight and lifted her up in prayer, what a sweet and precious time it was...

Please pray for God's touch of healing upon her body, pray for the surgery on Friday, and pray for her family to have peace and comfort as they are there with her through this time. Thank you so very much for your prayers...

Prayer for Wyatt

Update as of 3/2/09

I received some wonderful news today and wanted to share it with all of you who are praying for Wyatt... The family received the reports from the tests that have been run, and Wyatt's tumor was downgraded from a grade two to a grade one, which is considered benign!! What a huge praise this is! What a wonderful answer to prayer! He has what is called juvenille pilocytic astrocytomoa, and he will continue to have MRIs every 6 months to watch it.

However, they still need our prayers.... as a result of his intubation (they think) he has a paralyzed vocal cord and he did not pass a swallowing test, therefore he had to have a feeding tube put in his stomach. Please pray for the function of his vocal cord to return fully and that the muscles and nerves that control his swallow would also return to normal function. He is still in the hospital but they are now in a private room.

We know our God is the Great Physician and is able to touch and heal, look what He has already done for this precious little one, please continue to join me in prayer for Wyatt and his family. Thank you so very much!

Hey Everyone
I would like to ask you to pray for a 4 year old little boy named Wyatt.

He has been diagnosed with brain cancer... they do not yet have a course of treatment planned out, they are in the process of figuring all that out.

Also remember his parents, Kelly and Jim... They have one other child and Kelly is pregnant with their 3rd due in May.

Jim had been out of town and Wyatt was in the bed with his mom and had a seizure. The seizure led to the discovery of cancer...

Please join me in lifting this family to the throne of grace and praying for a touch of God upon this precious little one's body, for divine appointments for them, and for every need to be met. Thank you so much! I will post updates as I get them...

Prayer for Brandon

Please be in prayer for Brandon, the precious 4 month old son of a wonderful friend of mine, Susan. I first met Susan through the prayer ministry at a church we both used to attend. She had a broken heart at the time, but had given it all over to the Lord and was totally dependent on and in trusting in Him to work His will out in her life. Her prayers were not answered in the way we all wanted them to be answered at the time, but I can say that God has answered her prayers and has now blessed her with a wonderful husband and a precious son. Susan is a wonderful friend and we will forever have a bond because of all the time we spent in prayer together. Please join me in praying for her son and their family...

Brandon had surgery today (January 5, 2009) for hip dysplasia and came through the surgery well. Please be in prayer for him and his family (Susan and Jim) as they now embark on the journey of caring for Brandon as he recovers. I have included some information below about his surgery, and you can click here to visit their blog.

The surgery will be performed at Children’s Hospital and is the next phase of treatment for Brandon’s hip dysplasia, a condition that he was born with. For those of you interested in the “cliff notes” version regarding his recovery: Brandon will be in a Spica body cast for 3 to 4 months post-surgery as his hip heals. The cast will begin at Brandon’s armpits and extend down to his ankles. Although we first found this news to be very daunting, we’ve had some time to accept it and know that we are doing what’s best for Brandon. After the body cast is removed, Brandon must wear braces for 6 months to a year. Prayer for Brooke

Update on Brooke as of 3/2/09

Thank you so much for your prayers. Brooke's platelet count was up to 64,000 Thursday. Normal is 200,000. So it has come up. We got as low as 7,000, which I don't know if you know this but anything below 20,000 can cause serious internal bleeds, especially in the brain. Please pray for Brooke's platelet count to continue to increase!

We have been on a roller coaster, up and down, but this is the 2nd highest number we've had. They first tried treating Brooke with an IVIG, which is intravenous gammaglobulin. They did 2 of these. They did not work, so now she is on a high dose of prednisone it's a steriod. So right now we're waiting to see if this will work. Please pray for God to give the doctors wisdom, insight, and discernment regarding Brooke's treatment, and pray for divine healing by the Great Physician, who can heal with just a touch.

Between the steriods and birth control (to control her periods) the side affects are crazy. Well I said all of that to say this, Brooke is going back to school Monday.. Needless to say I'm scared to death. She's been out for 3 weeks. I know I can't keep her in a bubble and I know we're going to have to learn to live with this but, I'm a mother and I'm worried. Really through all of this I've had a peace within me and I know she's in Gods hands.How great is that? Please pray for God's peace that surpasses all understanding for Brooke's mom and dad, and for His comfort to abound to them.

Please pray that this medicine will work, her platelets will come up and that she doesn't get hurt while they are low.Thank you so much!

Please be in prayer for the 13 year old daughter of a friend of mine. We went to church together before we moved, she is a lady who loves the Lord and is so quick to minister to others in need. I would love for as many of you as possible to join me in prayer for her, Kendall, her daughter Brooke, and their entire family (dad, 2 other daughters, and a son).

Below is an email I received from her today, I will update as I get more details...

Thank you so much for your prayers. We need them! I don't know what you've heard but Brooke my 13 year old has a blood disorder called ITP. It's crazy, it's a disorder that the doctors don't know alot about. Please check out caseyscause.org and read about, it's alot to explain. We feel like we've been on a roller coaster for 15 days. I know Brooke is in Gods hands but I can't help but to be scared to death. We go back to get more bloodwork on Thursday morning. Please keep in touch.

Prayer for Josiah Carrier

Update as of 2/26/09, from their caringbridge site...

We just got home, the surgery has been put off for two more weeks. Josiah developed a cough last night and the doctors were hesitant to put him under. I'll write more later but again thanks for your overwhelming support and prayers.

Update as of 2/25/09

Update as of 1/13/09

We went to see Dr. Blount yesterday and discovered that Josiah will likely require surgery; the skull piece is deteriorating into calcium deposits and being harmlessly absorbed into the body. Over the next few weeks Dr. Blount will be weighing his options, trying to determine which course of action to take given the variables surrounding our son’s age, etc. We are scheduled to return on February the 2^nd and from there he’ll have likely charted a course of action.

Prayer for Baby Cora

Update...

Cora is now with Jesus.... I am so sad and heartbroken over this little one's death, and I did not even know them. Please join me in praying for her family as they mourn her death and adjust to life without their daughter... I can not even begin to imagine how they are feeling. Cora went to be with Jesus this past Sunday, the 8th... I feel horrible that I did not know that until now. I have not really felt like being on the computer this week and have not kept up with things as I normally do. Prayer for Baby Harper

Update!!!! Praise God! Baby Harper is going home TODAY! She is going home with no tubes, wires, or monitors! She is now a healthy baby girl going home with her mom and dad! What an amazing God we serve... her parents were told only 20 days ago she may not live through the night. Thank you so for joining me in prayer for this precious little one, and rejoice with me now in these answered prayers!!

Praise Report for Pate Babies!

Praise God! The Pate babies... twin boys, James and John David, are scheduled to come home today! Please pray that all would go well today and they will come home! Prayer for Jeremy & Johnna

The following is a prayer request that I received through emails from our church we attended before we moved. I do not know this couple but their situation breaks my heart, would you please join me in lifting them and their unborn child up before the throne of God. Thank you so much!

Dear Friends,

We just wanted to thank you for your warm wishes and excitement regarding our pregnancy. We waited many years before starting our family and were thrilled to share our news over the past few months.

Just before Christmas break, Johnna’s OBGYN mentioned that the amniotic fluid appeared low and that she should return in a few weeks to check it again. At that time, we were informed that this could be due to dehydration. On December 30^th, we returned to the doctor to find that there was no fluid present and our doctor referred us to the Maternal/Fetal Medicine Clinic (UAB Health Systems). After seeing a doctor within this high-risk group on January 2^nd, we learned that our baby has “bilateral renal agenesis” which is the absence of kidneys, ureters and the accompanying arteries. This means that the baby cannot make amniotic fluid (which is the baby’s urine) and therefore will not have any fluid to help it’s lungs mature or grow for the rest of the pregnancy.

Our doctors expect the baby to go full term (or close to it) but its lung and kidney problems will not be allow it to live very long (typically only a 30 minutes but could be up to a few hours). Although we are devastated now, we know the worst is to come and are trying to prepare ourselves with each passing day. What should be the happiest time of our lives together has now become the saddest. Our doctors said the best thing for us to do is go about our normal routine, and that is what we will do as best we can. We're just trying to take it one day at a time...

Intellectually, we understand what is happening, but for us this is an emotional struggle and test of faith like we'd never thought possible. We will have another ultrasound at UAB on January 16^th and will be seen by the UAB physicians and our OBGYN for the remainder of Johnna’s pregnancy.

We know many of you are already praying for us and we feel those prayers everyday. If you wish, please pray specifically for the following:

1. That the baby be comfortable and pain-free during pregnancy and delivery (lack of fluid can cause space for the baby to be very compressed)
2. That we have AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE with our baby after delivery
3. That we know what to do regarding medical decisions before and after the birth

Please feel free to pass along our situation to others we know or don’t know (Sunday school prayer list, church prayer list, etc…).

Prayer for Andrea

Please be in prayer for the daughter of a friend of mine, her name is Andrea. Andrea is currently a "prodigal" and is running from God and from her family. Please pray for Andrea to "come to her senses" as the prodigal son did and to return to her Heavenly Father and to her earthly family.

Her mother has requested the following be prayed for her:

• For Andrea to remember the love her parents have for her
• For Andrea to remember the countless scriptures that are hidden in her heart
• For a hedge of thorns to protect her

Please also pray for her parents, as this is an emotionally and physically draining time for them. Pray for God to sustain them and guide and direct them as they make decisions and as they have contact with Andrea.

Prayer for the Andre Family

Please be in prayer for my aunt and uncle; my cousin, her husband and son, as they mourn the loss of my cousin. He also leaves behind a wife, a daugher, and a step-son. His death was very unexpected, and has been so very difficult for his entire family, immediate and extended. Pray for God to strengthen and sustain all of us, to give us peace and comfort, and for God to use this for His Glory. Really, our whole extended family could use your prayers, as this has been extremely hard for all of us, somedays being harder than others. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Prayer for the Medders Family

Please join me in praying for the Medders, and for their daughter, Callie. Callie's mom, Kelli, was pregnant with naturally occurring quads, and went through a very difficult pregnancy with the babies being born early. Callie is her only surviving quad and she has had numerous medical problems and hurdles to cross, but she is hanging in there. I do not know this family personally, but have a friend who knows them, that is how I learned of them. My heart has gone out to Kelli ever since hearing she was pregnant naturally with quads. Please lift this precious family up to the Lord in your intercessions. Thanks so much for your prayers!

Please be in prayer for Sherri. She is a Godly lady who loves Jesus immensely. I have had the privilege of sitting under her as a Bible study teacher, and oh my, does she have a love and a passion for the living and written word of God. I would like for you to pray this year for the Gutierrez family, as they adjust to life without Richard. They have lost a husband, a dad, a grand-dad, a friend, and the list could go on and on. RICHARD R. GUTIERREZ, a calm leader and teacher of God's hope went peacefully to heaven while surrounded by his family in his Cypress home, November 10, 2008. A man of integrity, Richard was known for his love of God, compassion, intelligent humor, and management skills. Richard led with quiet strength; he was a constant source of wisdom for his family and friends. Born October 23, 1942 in Venezuela he was the youngest of three children. An honored US Army veteran, retired ExxonMobil executive, adoring husband of 39 years, dedicated father, loving grandpa, church leader and fervent prayer minister, Richard left nothing unfinished. Pursuing his passion to bring God's healing and restoration to people, Richard and his wife jointly founded the Healing Rooms of West Houston in 2004. He completed his life's checklist with a Master's touch. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild Jordan and is survived by his wife, Gloria, son David and wife Nichole and son John Paul and wife Sylvina, and 3 grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters Sylvia Levy and Elvira Pifko, their husbands, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Richard will be dearly missed. His life verse was Psalm 27:1, The Lord is my light and my salvation; we thank God for his salvation through Christ Jesus. An Evening of Remembrance will be held Thursday, November 13 at 7 PM at Encourager Church, 10950 Katy Freeway. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 PM at Encourager church followed by internment at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Prayer for the Pate Babies!

Please be in prayer for the Pate babies. Dana has twin boys who were born early but their progress has astounded everyone who hears of her story. I do not know Dana personally, but I did get to meet her in the elevator at the hospital one day as I was going for an appointment... it was a divine appointment for us!
